Cantala is a multi-unit development of 44 apartments with two-level basement car parks, retail tenancies on the ground floor and seven levels of apartments. The building has a Green Star energy rating.
KHD supplied VersiPave which were used to support 600 x 600 x 20 Porcelain Pavers.
Both common areas and the private courtyards are paved with porcelain tiles and the VersiPave units were used to minimise level changes across the site. 4mm tabs separate the pavers allowing stormwater to freely drain to the waterproof membrane below and ultimately to the waste points.
The VersiPave units are installed directly over the membrane. The membrane eliminates the chance of water, which carries salts and other minerals, migrating through the concrete slab, and ultimately dripping onto the duco of vehicles in the underground carpark.
The VersiPave units can be snapped into halves or quadrants for wall and corner junctions making this unit the most economical solution for elevated paving. The tiler only needs to commit one VersiPave unit per tile minimising any waste, as opposed to using a screw jack system where one complete unit is required at wall and corner junctions. This is especially evident when there are numerous wall and corner junctions or small balconies.
VersiPave eliminates the use of bedding sand and cement screeds reducing dead loads on building structures.
VersiPave can also be used to support concrete, natural stone and marble pavers on areas such as roofs, balconies, verandas, plaza decks, patios and pool surrounds.
